Cynthia stood quietly with tears in her eyes, whilst Mrs Casey uttered words she saw once and never thought of again until that moment. Mrs Casey's words were not be uttered again. Cynthia had never thought herself like that,so she quickly apologized to Mrs Casey and let the words linger for long enough she believed them.
Since that incident, Cynthia had believed those words more than anything, when she looked in the mirror, all she saw were those 8 letters spelt out perfectly and Cynthia swallowed them with the same broken heart she had on that day.
Cynthia was capABLE,her parents thought so,her friends thought so,her dog saw no difference than she was then. Before that one day, she thought so too. Cynthia's heart did somersaults but not in the good way, nothing from that day ever felt like it happened in a good way. The stars seemed dimmer, her favorite meals felt bland , she stopped to rest every single 40 minutes , and she started counting down from 5 every single moment of silence.
Cynthia was capABLE, she never stopped being capable, she just became Mrs Casey's words, because she knew deep down she never belonged, there was always an "adversity" she had to overcome, nothing she wasn't used to.
Cynthia had enough, so on one unfaithful day she turned off the voices and looked once again in the mirror and all she saw was her hand, convulsing. There was something much more interesting on Cynthia's reflection, her face riddled with confusion filled the room with an ineffable feeling that Cynthia knew all too well.
The somersaults began again, all because Mrs Casey's words that stabbed in a way she could never get over. Cynthia was home alone that day so she continued with her routine, with her hands still convulsing.
This time she did not hide it, yet she ignored it, Cynthia was good hiding it now. She knew all the excuses, the simplified version of the story she gave strangers and people she didn't trust. She understood why she had to hide it, she knew that many people still describe her the way Mrs Casey described her on that one unfateful day, she understood it all too well.
Mrs Casey had forgotten about the unspeakable words she dared to utter to Cynthia on that one unfateful day,yet she remembered the way she felt on her husband's birthday - only she couldn't celebrate it with him.
It had officially been a year since he lost his life on that day. Mrs Casey had an unimaginable amount of anger. When she saw that Cynthia is not doing her work and is sleeping during her class, she dumped all her anger on her .
Mrs Casey focused her anger on Cynthia, she always had that unfortunate trait, she doesn't know why,she had done it. By the time Mrs Casey was in her teens ,she had already stopped feeling guilty for it, she was just not able to contain her words, her anger had to go somewhere.
Mrs Casey's anger shows all over her house,it lingers in the sharp edges of her cupboard and in the slammed bedroom doors, even when she had no one to get mad at.
It was clear as daylight that she had a problem yet she was not ABLE to fix it. So instead Cynthia and others too got stabbed by her sharp words - constantly
